We had a great time at the this years IDAL 2013 Convention! The annual event was held in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 8-12, 2013. International Decorative Artisans League had its 29th anniversary. The non-profit organization has been serving the decorative painting industry by offering classes to members in regional chapters along with this annual event. Vendors, services, and schools gather at the expo to educate the attendees of the latest trends.
Here is Pierre Finkelstein’s fauxbrushes.com booth. Packed with brushes, books, and Pierre’s demonstrations.
The ornamentation class was a huge success. The students created a beautiful panel for one days work! Check out our next ornamentation class in NYC and Versailles, France.
The second day, students created trompe l’oeil molding using a striping edge.
The striping edge takes practice, but performs magically with the right brush!
Giddy students at the end of the day.
On the last day, students created a detailed panel using Marquetry techniques.
Finished panel
It’s always great to hang out with friends of the industry.
