Trompe l’oeil molding on Hamburg panel.  This is the 3rd of a 4- part series of a panel I did for the International event for decorative painters called SALON.  This particular gathering was in Hamburg, Germany and the theme was “the harbor”.

After I figured out the profile I wanted to use, I drew the lines that would guide my strokes.  Use a 5H pencil with a light but sharp touch

I always do the horizontal moldings first – complete with the halftone and accent (shadowed parts) and highlight.

Then, I switched the tape and did the vertical pieces.  I used a striping edge for all of this work.  See my video on the striping edge, to learn how this is done.
